Dave Fenley (‘Amazed’) eliminated on ‘The Voice’ despite Blake Shelton believing ‘in my heart’ that he’d stay [WATCH]

As Gold Derby predicted, Tuesday night was the end of the road for Dave Fenley of Team Blake Shelton on “The Voice” Season 15. The raspy-voiced country crooner wowed the live audience with his final song of “Amazed” by Lonestar, but it wasn’t enough to win the instant save. Before the final vote was read, host Carson Daly asked if Blake had any parting words and he responded, “No, I don’t have any last words for Dave. We’re gonna go to the semifinals, I believe it in my heart.” Unfortunately, Blake’s heart — and America — let him down. Watch Dave’s final “Voice” performance above.

The results show was chock-full of drama after the bottom three were revealed to be Dave and two artists from Team Adam LevineDeAndre Nico and Reagan Strange. Adam made the unprecedented move of choosing sides between his two artists, picking Reagan (who was too sick to perform) over DeAndre. Adam’s public plea worked and Reagan sailed through to next week’s Top 8 while Dave and DeAndre were both sent packing.

After Dave’s performance of “Amazed,” rival coach Kelly Clarkson couldn’t stop throwing kind words his way. “It’s a very smart song,” Kelly declared while pointing at him. “That’s a beautiful song. And I love your voice on it because it’s just so big and round, man. Your tone is like a blanket — a blanket of goodness, wrapped up by a fire. I love your tone. It’s so cool. It’s my favorite thing about you.”

Blake seemed shocked that Dave was even in the bottom three to begin with, telling him, “Dave, every time you get on stage or just even in rehearsals, your voice absolutely floors me. I mean, God gave you this gift and it’s on display every time you start to sing. It’s incredible. I don’t know how it happened, why you’re in the bottom three, but as this show narrows down we face this every year. This is why I say to America, this guy deserves to move to the semifinals.”

With Dave’s elimination, Blake now has two artists in next week’s Top 8 show: Chris Kroeze and Kirk Jay. Kelly still has three (Sarah Grace, Kymberli Joye and Chevel Shepherd), while Jennifer has two (Kennedy Holmes and MaKenzie Thomas) and Adam has one (Reagan Strange).
